Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro lineup could bring a noticeable design refinement, with new leaks suggesting a significantly smaller Dynamic Island at the top of the display.
According to a tipster on X, alleged CAD renders of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max show a reduced cutout, potentially shrinking the Dynamic Island by up to 35%. While earlier reports indicated Apple might move Face ID sensors under the display, recent speculation suggests the technology may not yet be ready, meaning the change could be more incremental for now.
The leak also hints at new colour options, including Light Blue, Dark Cherry, Dark Gray, and Silver. Notably, Apple is unlikely to continue with the much-discussed orange variant seen in the previous generation.
Under the hood, the iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to feature Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro chipset, built on TSMC’s 3nm process. The chip could deliver around 30% faster performance and 15% better efficiency compared to its predecessor.
Battery capacity may also see a boost, particularly on the Pro Max model, which is rumoured to house a 5,100–5,200mAh battery—the largest ever on an iPhone. However, this could make the device slightly heavier, with reports suggesting a weight of around 240 grams.
Camera upgrades are likely to be a major highlight. The Pro models could feature a triple 48MP rear camera setup and a 24MP front camera. A key innovation may be the introduction of a manual aperture on the main sensor, allowing users to control light intake and improve low-light photography. Larger apertures on telephoto and ultra-wide lenses are also expected, potentially enhancing image clarity and background separation.
Another significant shift could be Apple’s move away from Qualcomm modems. The iPhone 18 Pro lineup is rumoured to debut Apple’s in-house C2 modem, which may support advanced features such as satellite-based internet connectivity alongside standard 5G and mmWave performance.
While these details remain unconfirmed, the leaks point to a mix of design tweaks and meaningful hardware upgrades as Apple continues to refine its flagship lineup.
