Djokovic Hopes Virat Kohli Can Join Him, Calls It His Big Wish

The legendary tennis player Novak Djokovic stated that he follows cricket because of Virat Kohli. Djokovic hopes to have Kohli accompany him on his planned trip to India. Although cricket isn’t one of the most popular sports in Serbia, tennis legend Novak Djokovic connected with the “Gentleman’s game” thanks to Team India legend Virat Kohli. Although they haven’t frequently shared a stage, the two titans of their respective sports have captivated their followers with a number of social media exchanges. Speaking at the Laureus World Sports Awards, Djokovic praised Kohli and disclosed that he began to follow cricket because of the legendary batter.

Two people can be “friends” in the digital era without having to be in close proximity to one another. Even though they were thousands of kilometers apart, Djokovic and Kohli became friends.

“Yes, Virat is a friend and someone I naturally respect and like. To be honest, I started watching cricket because of him. Through him, I began to follow it more than I had previously. We stay in touch, and I hope he can join me when I visit India. We could play some tennis and cricket, have fun, and just spread nice, good feelings while celebrating sport,” Djokovic said.

When asked about his message to India, Djokovic stated that he has long appreciated the nation and its supporters. The Serb added that he intends to travel to India shortly. My message is always one of love, respect, and gratitude for all the help I have personally received over the years from Indian tennis and sports fans worldwide. Over this period, I’ve met a lot of them. Additionally, I would say, “See you very soon in India,” as I have to travel there. For the past few years, I’ve been compelled to go. I sincerely hope that I will be able to visit India to play a game, host an event, or do something else. “I feel very close to the Indian people, so I really wish for that,” Djokovic said.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion also discussed his competition with Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, the two “young guns” in the sport. The rivalry between Sinner and Alcaraz, in my opinion, is equally fantastic and distinctive. But the ‘Big Three’ will always be the finest in my opinion,” Djokovic declared.
