2021 Nongstoin Double Murd*r: Court Awards Life Term for Banphrangkupar Nongbri

The Court of the District and Sessions Judge, West Khasi Hills, Nongstoin, has sentenced Banphrangkupar Nongbri to rigorous imprisonment for the remainder of his natural life without parole in the 2021 Nongstoin twin murder case.
The casw was registered at Nongstoin Police Station under Sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
The case dates back to August 2021, when 79-year-old Phlesis Syiem and her 25-year-old domestic help, Maitlynti Lyngdoh Marshillong, were found murdered in Nongstoin.
According to police, the primary motive was robbery. Syiem was a wealthy woman who lived alone with her domestic help.
Nongbri was temporarily residing in Shillong while awaiting his degree exam results when the murders took place. Police said he confessed to the crime during the investigation.
Investigators also recovered blood-stained shoes and two mobile phones belonging to the victims from his possession.
