Actor Pradeep Rawat, who became a household name for his role as Ashwatthama in the TV serial Mahabharat, passed away at the age of 74. The actor, who had been active in Indian cinema and television for over three decades, died on Tuesday.
It was his portrayal of Ashwatthama in B.R. Chopra’s popular serial Mahabharat that gave Pradeep Rawat one of the most recognizable identities of his acting career. Later, he carved out his own identity in Bollywood by playing villain roles in several hit Hindi films including Sarfarosh, Lagaan, and Ghajini. His performance in Ghajini in particular earned praise from both audiences and critics.
Apart from Hindi, Pradeep Rawat also acted in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Bengali films. Along with films, he was equally active in the television industry.
