Shoal Bay-19 Mangrove Walkway was inaugurated in Mannarghat Range
Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sinha, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, officially opened the newly built Mangrove Walkway at Shoal Bay-19 in the Mannarghat Range of the South Andaman Forest Division. Senior Forest Department staff, the Gram Pradhan, Samiti members, and other local PRI representatives attended the ceremony. The 1.2-meter-wide, 450-meter-long path offers visitors a smooth transition through the picturesque mangrove scenery from the Shoal Bay-19 Dinghy Ghat to the beach.
The pathway, which is made completely of wood and wooden pillars, maintains the area’s green profile while blending in with the surroundings. Eco-huts made of bamboo, rattans, teak posts, and thatching leaves provide resting places for travelers along the path. The South Andaman Forest Division’s Eco-Tourism Scheme project substitutes the old, inconvenient dinghy transportation method for getting to the beach. It is anticipated that the upgraded infrastructure will improve ecotourism prospects in the region, giving tourists a more pleasurable experience and stimulating business activity.
Another important step in creating green jobs for the local community is the construction of Shoal Bay-19. The Forest Department’s eco-friendly efforts were praised by members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI), who emphasized the benefits to the area’s tourist and economic potential. This eco-development project demonstrates the dedication to sustainable tourism by providing tourists with an opportunity to take in the unspoiled splendor of the Andaman Islands while creating jobs for locals.
