Disha meet reviews status of key govt schemes in west garo hills

The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA), Review Meeting was held at the Circuit House, Tura on Tuesday to review the status and implementation of key central and state government schemes in West Garo Hills district.
The meeting, chaired by Tura Lok Sabha MP Saleng A Sangma, was also attended by DISHA members, including Vibhor Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner, West Garo Hills, along with Saurabh Suman, Assistant Commissioner, SDO Civil, BDOs and officials from various line departments.
Addressing the gathering, the MP expressed his gratitude to all officers and departments for their participation. He stated that the purpose of the DISHA meeting was not merely a routine exercise but to genuinely assess whether the schemes and projects sanctioned and forwarded to the Government of Meghalaya had actually been implemented on the ground.
He emphasised that the review was intended to ensure accountability and to verify the actual status of execution.
He further mentioned that with proper preparation and presentations by the departments it would be possible to ascertain the true picture of implementation. He welcomed all members and officials and conveyed his good wishes for the deliberations.
During the review, status reports were presented on major schemes including PMAY-G, NRLM, DDU-GKY, MPLADS, Food Security Act, Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban and Gramin), Jal Jeevan Mission, SSA/Mid-Day Meal, PMKSY, NHM, ICDS, PMMVY, RKVY, PMEGP, PMGSY, AMRUT and Swadesh Darshan/PRASAD. Concerned departments such as DRDA, Tura Municipal Board, PHE, DSEO, Agriculture, Health, Social Welfare and PWD gave updates on progress, challenges and implementation.
Sangma thoroughly reviewed all the projects presented during the meeting and expressed concern over a sudden increase in residents in certain areas. He specifically mentioned Gambegre, stating that there were previously no non-tribal residents there but the number had now risen to 32.
Suspecting illegal migration from Bangladesh, he requested the Deputy Commissioner to investigate the matter.
DISHA members who accompanied the MP during the meeting also raised various issues and queries related to the implementation of different schemes in local areas. They sought clarifications on project progress, fund utilisation at the grassroots level and urged concerned departments to address them at the earliest.
