Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured multiple engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) orders worth around ₹10,000 crore for its Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) business, strengthening its position in India and international power infrastructure markets. The new contracts span Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and India, with a strong focus on expanding transmission capacity, improving grid infrastructure and supporting the evacuation of renewable power. In Saudi Arabia, L&T’s PT&D business has won orders covering 380 kilovolt transmission systems and substations. The projects are aimed at augmenting transmission capacity and facilitating renewable energy evacuation, contributing to the continued development and resilience of the country’s power transmission network. The company has also secured an order in the United Arab Emirates for the construction of 132/11 kV substations along with associated cabling works. The project further expands L&T’s presence in the Gulf’s rapidly developing electricity infrastructure market, where investments in transmission and distribution networks are being driven by rising power demand and energy-transition initiatives. In India, L&T has received an order from a private sector developer to establish a transmission system in Visakhapatnam. The project includes transmission lines and substations and is expected to strengthen the regional power network while supporting the reliable movement of electricity. Together, the orders underline the growing need for modern transmission infrastructure as power systems adapt to increasing electricity consumption and the rapid integration of renewable energy. Commenting on the new wins, Joji Sebastian, Executive Vice-President and Head of PT&D at L&T, said the company is leveraging its technology, project execution capabilities and global presence to deliver value for clients amid rising demand for grid strengthening, renewable energy integration and related infrastructure. L&T’s PT&D business provides end-to-end solutions across the power transmission and distribution value chain. Its capabilities include the design, manufacture, supply, installation and commissioning of transmission lines, substations and underground cable networks, as well as distribution networks, power quality improvement projects and infrastructure electrification. The latest order inflow reflects the company’s ability to execute complex power infrastructure projects across diverse markets while responding to evolving energy requirements. The international awards also reinforce L&T’s established presence in the Middle East, a key market for large-scale power and infrastructure development. At the same time, the Visakhapatnam project highlights continued opportunities in India as private investment and renewable energy expansion create demand for additional transmission capacity. L&T, a $32 billion Indian multinational, operates across multiple geographies through businesses spanning EPC projects, hi-tech manufacturing, products and services. With power grids undergoing significant transformation to accommodate renewable generation, improve reliability and meet growing demand, transmission and distribution infrastructure is becoming increasingly critical. L&T’s latest wins position its PT&D business to participate in this long-term expansion while broadening its portfolio across domestic and international markets. The projects also demonstrate how coordinated investments in transmission can help connect new generation capacity with growing demand reliably. The contracts therefore represent not only a substantial addition to L&T’s order book but also a strategic opportunity to support the modernization and expansion of power networks.
