Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday handed over 62 sanctions under the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund (CMSDF) and Chief Minister’s Special Grant (CMSG) in Tura.
The distribution covers 40 constituency areas across Meghalaya and comprises 54 CMSDF works and 10 CMSG grants with a total value of Rs 3.14 crore.
Of the 62 sanctions, 32 beneficiaries are citizens who had met the Chief Minister personally at CM Darbars held in April, May, June and July in Tura and other parts of Garo Hills.
Their petitions have been converted into sanction orders in an average of 105 days, with 11 petitions from the July Darbar cleared in under seven weeks.
The remaining include 24 cases traced from office records and constituency registers and eight fresh proposals routed through MLAs and departments.
The sanctions will support creation of basic public assets across Garo Hills. This includes about Rs 90.3 lakh for 18 school buildings, repairs and toilets, Rs 81.5 lakh for 16 roads and pavements including cement concrete and jeepable roads, Rs 47 lakh for six community halls and Nokma Kachari buildings, Rs 38.5 lakh for eight retaining walls, stone masonry walls and check dams, Rs 33.2 lakh for nine culverts, footbridges, sheds and other facilities, and Rs 23.3 lakh for seven sports, youth and CMSG support initiatives.
The CMSG support includes financial assistance for the Open Inter-School Chess Championship in Ampati, the Inter Mahari Football Tournament, youth excursion to Sikkim, exposure trips for students of Don Bosco Secondary School Chandigre and Dalu Government Higher Secondary School to Darjeeling, participation of youth delegates in World Youth Day 2027 in South Korea, and procurement of musical instruments for local bands.
The work will be executed by Self Help Groups, School Managing Committees, Sports Associations, Village Development Committees and community institutions.
Among them are assistance for footbridge at Chasingre, cement concrete approach road at Rongkhon Songgital, check dam and gabion wall at Amongpara, box culvert at Kongbangpara, school building for Jesus Blessings English School at Sonagre, basketball court at St. Andrew Secondary School, building for Babelapara Higher Secondary School, school van for St. Alphonsa’s School, community hall at Rimrangpara, CC jeepable road at Chengkurigre and Gongglanggre, culverts at Nepal Chiga stream, retaining wall at Gambal Ading, improvement of playground at Rongkemgre, repairing of Adhoc LP School at Asibra and retaining wall at Tewaligre Catholic Church.
