Manipur Chief Minister Khemchand Yumnam met a delegation from the Department of Korean Language at Manipur University and discussed ways to strengthen educational and cultural ties between Manipur and the Republic of Korea.
The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, focused on expanding academic cooperation and creating more opportunities for students through international engagement.
During the interaction, Yumnam expressed satisfaction over the achievements of students from the Department of Korean Language, noting that many of them have secured placements in global companies, reflecting the growing importance of foreign language education and international career opportunities.
The Chief Minister said the success of the students demonstrates the potential of specialised language education in preparing young people for employment in multinational organisations.
Sharing details of the meeting, Yumnam said he was pleased to learn about the department’s progress and the achievements of its students.
“Called on by a delegation from the Department of Korean Language, Manipur University, at the Secretariat today. Glad to know many students have secured placements in global companies,” the Chief Minister said in a post on X.
Yumnam also said the proposed visit of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India in September 2026 is expected to provide fresh momentum to educational and cultural exchanges between Manipur and South Korea.
According to the Chief Minister, the ambassador’s visit could open new avenues for academic collaboration, cultural exchange programmes and institutional partnerships between Manipur and Korean institutions.
