Preparations for the North East Bankers’ Conclave 3.0 gathered pace with a high-level review meeting held at the New Secretariat Conference Hall in Aizawl on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by Mizoram Chief Secretary Khilli Ram Meena.
Officials said the conclave is expected to be attended by Chief Secretaries and senior officials from Northeastern states, representatives of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), state government officials and executives from various banking institutions.
The preparatory meeting was attended by senior government officials, including the Principal Secretary of the General Administration Department, the Director General of Police, commissioners, secretaries of various departments and representatives from Mizoram University, North Eastern Development Finance Corporation Limited (NEDFi) and several commercial banks.
The first North East Bankers’ Conclave was organised in New Delhi in April 2023 by the DoNER Ministry in collaboration with NEDFi. The event brought together policymakers, regulators, bankers and financial sector stakeholders to discuss challenges facing the banking sector in the Northeast and explore strategies to promote financial inclusion and economic growth.
The second edition of the conclave was held in Agartala on December 21, 2024, where Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the gathering. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Scindia, Manik Saha, Pema Khandu, Dr Sukanta Majumdar and Govind Mohan.
