CM Conrad Sangma: Meghalaya EV Policy To Make Clean Mobility Affordable

The Meghalaya Cabinet today approved the Meghalaya Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2026 to promoting clean and sustainable mobility in the State.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that under the policy, the government will provide an incentive of Rs 25,000 to every individual purchasing an EV, along with a complete waiver of vehicle registration fees in order to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles.
“This policy reflects our commitment to building a greener Meghalaya by reducing emissions, encouraging clean transportation, and making electric mobility more accessible and affordable for our citizens,” he said.
the policy focuses entirely on electric vehicles, specifically zero-emission vehicles with the ultimate goal of gradually transforming Meghalaya into a zero pollution state for the benefit of its residents.
