Speaking at the 1st Indian Maritime Heritage Conclave at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi, Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.), the Lt. Governor of the A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman of the Islands Development Agency, emphasized the A&N Islands’ long maritime history, which dates back several millennia and was a major factor in the spread of trade and commerce to far-east countries as well as the celebration and symbolism of Sri Vijaya Puram.
The Lt.
