White collar jobs hiring upgrade 20% in June led by strong growth in tier II cities: Report

Hiring for white collar jobs grew 20% year-on-year (YoY) in June, led by opportunities in tier II markets, PTI reported on Wednesday, citing data from the Foundit.in tracker.
According to the tracker, India’s tier II cities drove the country’s employment growth. The Foundit Insights Tracker is based on online job posting activity on Foundit.in.
The Foundit Insights Tracker (earlier called the Monster Employment Index) is a report based on a comprehensive monthly analysis of online job posting activity on the Foundit.in platform.
Coimbatore witnessed a growth in opportunities with a 26% increase, followed by Nagpur and Nashik at 24% each, with sectors such as IT, BFSI, manufacturing and FMCG contributing mainly.
“The shift in hiring momentum towards tier II cities, especially in IT and entry-level roles, is notable. Job seekers now have diverse opportunities closer to home, reflecting India’s rich and diverse talent landscape. For employers, these cities offer strategic opportunities for sustained growth driven by better infrastructure, targeted investments and a strategic intent to diversify geographically,” PTI reported, quoting Pranay Kale, chief revenue and growth officer (CRGO) at Foundit.
Kale added that the growth in June was the strongest seen in recent years, highlighting the importance of tier II cities in India’s employment landscape. The monthly report also revealed that while tier II cities grew 28% year-on-year, major metro cities such as Delhi-NCR, Chennai and Bengaluru saw comparatively slower growth at 5%, 18% and 16%, respectively.
Further, the IT industry witnessed exceptional growth in Tier II cities, growing 53% year-on-year, well ahead of the national average, which is 30%, the report said. Other sectors including logistics and transportation and energy also saw hiring growth of 42% and 38%, respectively, contributing significantly to the overall growth in these markets.
