Weeklong Anti-Drug Event Kicks Off At State Library Promoting Healthy Living

The Science Wing of the Directorate of Education launched a week-long Anti-Drug Programme-2025 on June 23 at the State Library at Middle Point, Sri Vijaya Puram. The project, which will continue until June 28, aims to raise awareness about the dangers of drug use and urge students, adolescents, and the general public to live drug-free lives. Ms. Sindhu Pillai A., IPS, Inspector General of Police,attended the event as the chief guest, along with other dignitaries, police officers, teachers, parents, and youngsters. The introduction of the anti-drug campaign emblem, with the statement “We Stand Together Against Drugs,” was the highlight of the inaugural session. 

The first day included a variety of interesting and enjoyable activities. The A&N Police Department held a PowerPoint presentation on crucial issues such as the POCSO Act, and narcotic drug trafficking. This was followed by storytelling sessions, role-playing games, and inspirational speeches on developing and living a drug-free lifestyle by maintaining good habits. The program’s first day saw around 160 pupils actively participate.

In her speech, the chief guest highlighted the urgent need for collaborative efforts to prevent drug misuse, as well as the essential role of education and community participation. Mr. Ram Pravesh, Deputy Director of Education, presented a vote of gratitude to conclude the program.
