UK PM Keir Starmer Condemns Pahalgam Attack, Expresses Solidarity with India in Call to PM Modi

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer called Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strongly condemn the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, mostly tourists, in Jammu and Kashmir. During the call, Starmer expressed his condolences for the innocent lives lost and emphasized that the UK stands in solidarity with India during this tragic time. He described the attack as barbaric and reiterated the UK’s commitment to supporting India in its fight against terrorism.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, shared details of the conversation, highlighting Starmer’s heartfelt message and condemnation of the heinous act. PM Modi thanked Starmer for his support and solidarity, emphasizing India’s resolve to bring the perpetrators to justice and strengthen global efforts against terrorism.

This call comes amidst heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the attack, with India taking diplomatic measures such as suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and expelling Pakistani military attachés. The international community has rallied behind India, with several world leaders expressing their support and condemning the attack.
