Trump Blocks Export of Nvidia’s Most Advanced AI Chips to China and Other Nations

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a firm stance against the export of Nvidia’s most advanced artificial intelligence (AI) chips to China and other foreign countries, citing national security concerns and the need to maintain technological superiority. The statement, made on November 3, 2025, specifically targets Nvidia’s latest Blackwell series chips, which are considered a major leap in AI processing capabilities.

During a press interaction, Trump stated, “The new Blackwell that just came out, it’s 10 years ahead of every other chip. It’s only for us—not for other people.” His remarks come amid growing global tensions over AI dominance and chip supply chains, especially between the U.S. and China.

While Trump indicated that he may allow certain Nvidia chip deals with China, he made it clear that the most advanced semiconductors—particularly the Blackwell chips—would be restricted. This move aligns with ongoing U.S. efforts to tighten export controls on cutting-edge technologies that could be used in military or surveillance applications.

Nvidia, now the world’s most valuable company by market capitalization, plays a central role in powering AI systems across industries, from autonomous vehicles to defense. The Blackwell chips are designed to handle massive AI workloads and are seen as critical to next-generation computing.

The decision is expected to widen the global tech divide and could impact Nvidia’s international business strategy. Analysts suggest that while the U.S. market remains lucrative, restrictions on exports to China may prompt Nvidia to recalibrate its supply and licensing models.

China has yet to issue an official response, but experts anticipate that the move could accelerate Beijing’s push for domestic chip innovation and reduce reliance on American technology.
