Teylerabad, July 9, 2025 — In celebration of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025, a state-level tree plantation drive was organized at the premises of the Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Union in Teylerabad. The event, held under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, aimed to promote environmental stewardship and honor the nurturing spirit of motherhood through collective action.
The initiative was spearheaded by the Department of Cooperation in collaboration with the Forest Department and the A&N State Cooperative Union. The Secretary (Cooperation)-cum-Registrar of Cooperative Societies graced the occasion as Chief Guest, addressing a gathering of officials, cooperative board members, faculty, and trainees.
Over 700 fruit-bearing saplings were planted during the two-day Van Mahotsav drive, supported by the Forest Department. The campaign emphasized the ecological and social responsibilities of cooperative societies, aligning with the national vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” and Viksit Bharat.
In his keynote address, the Secretary highlighted the pivotal role of cooperatives in fostering grassroots development and environmental consciousness. He urged cooperative institutions to integrate sustainability into their core operations, reinforcing their commitment to inclusive growth.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri K.P. Aboo Backer, General Secretary of the A&N State Cooperative Union, who expressed gratitude to all participants and departments for their active involvement and dedication to cooperative and environmental advancement.
