AYUSH Hospital and G.B. Pant Hospital in Sri Vijaya Puram hosted a two-day training session on February 13 and 14, 2025, as part of the Social Awareness & Action to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully (SAANS) campaign. Enhancing healthcare providers’ abilities to identify, diagnose, and treat juvenile pneumonia—a major cause of child mortality—was the program’s main goal.
Doctor S. Sunil Kumar, Deputy Director (HE), Dr. Pragathesh, Professor & HoD, Department of Paediatrics, ANIIMS, Dr. Ritu Singh, Professor, Department of Paediatrics, and Dr. Reema Dakua, Senior Resident, Department of Paediatrics, ANIIMS, were among the distinguished medical professionals who led the program. They gave Medical Officers from different hospitals in the area practical training. On February 14, the program came to an end, and the principal guest was Dr. H.M. Siddaraju, Director of Health Services (I/c).
He presented certificates to the attendees and underlined the value of programs like SAANS in preventing pediatric pneumonia and lowering rates of morbidity and death. The goal of the SAANS effort is to increase community awareness and improve healthcare treatments for the management, prevention, and protection of pediatric pneumonia. It is anticipated that the training program would make a substantial contribution to the enhancement of pediatric healthcare services in the area.
