The controversy arose because opposition MPs were not allowed to seek clarifications on Modi’s statement, which led to protests and the adjournment of the Lok Sabha.
O’Brien also highlighted that the Prime Minister rarely engages in press conferences or direct questioning, contrasting this with the practices of other leaders.
Modi, however, emphasized that the Maha Kumbh showcased India’s unity and organizational capabilities, attributing its success to collective efforts by the government and society.
This debate reflects ongoing tensions between the ruling party and the opposition over parliamentary norms and governance priorities.
