Tina Ahuja says father Govinda told her to lose weight as ‘fat doesn’t look unhealthy’, recalls going on crash diet: ‘Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone’

Govinda’s daughter Tina Ahuja opened up about her father asking her to lose weight in her teens. She also revealed that she has been on crash diets before, but she wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Actress Tina Ahuja has always been open about her relationship with her father, actor Govinda, and how he would comment on her looks and guide her about weight management.
In an earlier interview, she had revealed that her father was very particular about her weight during her teenage years, as she had a ‘growing belly’. Now, in a candid chat with Kamiya Jani on Curly Tales, Tina elaborated on her weight loss diet, and how an invite from actress Shilpa Shetty to a screening was an eye-opener for her.
When asked if she follows any diet routine, Tina said, “I have tried every kind of diet. I have always had a nutritionist since my teens. I remember I went from a diet of aloo ke paratha to only having 600-700 calories a day, which I don’t recommend to anyone.
I used to drink only black coffee, wear dhoti pants, it was the boho phase of my life, with those red lips. But now, I have come to a point where I want to eat really good food – I eat berries, drink smoothies, work out, have green juices, nuts, and now I sleep really well.”
When asked if father Govinda still tells her to focus on weight loss, Tina replied, “Not now, but it has been going on since my teens. He would always say, ‘Tum fit raho, achche lage chahiye, mote asahit acche nahi lagte’. I never had any problems or anything. After my accident in Jaipur, I gained weight. I couldn’t workout for a year after that. I thought I was fit,” she replied.
The actress also revealed that when she realised her huge weight gain, Shilpa Shetty invited her to a film screening. She said, “The biggest eye-opener was thanks to Shilpa Shetty ji, who invited me to the screening. I had come from London after holidays and I went in thinking I was a fairy.
Then, I saw a tag on Instagram and I was like, ‘Oh, I have become so fat’.” Tina further added, “I went from UK4 to UK12 and I didn’t even realise it. I wasn’t even working out and wasn’t eating too much. Now I can write a book on how to lose weight one day at a time. Now I know all the healthy tricks and tips.”
When asked if her mother Sunita Ahuja stops her from eating anything or encourages her to diet, she said, “My mother actually forces me to eat, she tells me I look fat.” To which Sunita added, “According to me, don’t overeat, don’t overeat, but eat everything. It is better to workout and walk daily. I go for a brisk walk for an hour every morning.”
