In a major crackdown on illegal timber operations, forest officials from the Jirkatang Range confiscated illegal Padauk sawn timber from the Bada Pather Ghum area of Mile Tilak Beat. This operation was led by Shri. Abdul Rehman.T, the Forest Guard (Beat Officer, Mile Tilak Beat), with the active assistance of team members Shri. Deepak Roy, RPSM, Saw Towplowpaw, RPSM, Shri. Saw Thasay, RPSM, Shri. Jairam Kerketta, RPSM, and Shri. O. Mohammed Abdul Aziz, RPSM.
The team discovered 12 pieces of Padauk sawn timber, totaling 0.488 cubic meters, within the Reserve Forest Area. A Forest Offence Case has been filed against an unknown offender under various sections of the Indian Forest Act, 1972, and the Andaman and Nicobar Forest Transit Pass Rule, 1966. Further investigations are underway to trace the connections related to this illegal activity in order to apprehend the offenders.
The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of the Range Officer of Jirkatang Range, based on credible information received from a trustworthy source. Despite challenging weather conditions, the team successfully reached the location and transported the seized timber via dinghy to the Range Office.
