The Directorate of Health Services’ Health Department has launched a campaign to cut edible oil consumption by 10% in an effort to encourage better lives and reduce the health hazards that come with consuming too much oil. Health educator Mr. Yusuf gave a health presentation at the G.B. Pant Hospital’s OPD Complex as part of the campaign, stressing the need of using oil with awareness. Attendees learned about the risks of consuming too much oil, including obesity and heart disease, and received useful advice on how to cut back.
The key suggestions included: 1) Limit oil purchases: Buy oil in fixed, controlled quantities. 2) Use a measuring spoon: Ensures portion control and prevents excess consumption. 3) Rotate different oils: Provides a balanced intake of nutrients. 4) Avoid reusing oil: Prevents the formation of harmful substances. 5) Limit butter and ghee: Reduces the intake of saturated fats. 6) Adopt a healthy diet: Promotes overall well-being and reduces dependence on oil-based foods.
In order to reach the campaign’s 10% reduction goal, the Health Department is urging the public to take these easy yet powerful steps, which might greatly lower the risk of diseases linked to a sedentary lifestyle and improve long-term health. In order to promote behavior change and healthier eating habits, the effort will continue with a number of awareness campaigns, community outreach events, and expert-led health presentations.
