The AI Mode for Google Search is now accessible in India: Here’s how you can experience it

Google’s AI Mode feature in Search, which enables users to conduct more in-depth and intricate search queries, is now being launched in India. Initially introduced earlier this year as a trial in the United States, the technology giant reports that users have been valuing the new feature’s “speed, quality, and fresh responses.” In light of the favorable feedback, AI Mode is now accessible as part of Google Labs in English. In a blog post, the company states that this new feature employs a customized version of Gemini 2.5, allowing users to pose “longer, more complex, and nuanced questions,” which would have previously necessitated multiple searches.

For instance, users may pose inquiries such as, “My children are 4 and 7 years old and possess abundant energy. Please recommend imaginative methods to engage them in physical activities indoors, particularly during hot weather, without requiring extensive space or costly toys.” Google indicates that users can also inquire further with questions like, “Could you propose some activities that they can undertake on their own?”

Given that AI mode possesses multimodal capabilities, Google indicates that users can pose inquiries through voice, text, and by uploading an image. To activate voice mode, simply tap the microphone and inquire in AI mode. This feature is particularly useful for obtaining answers to lengthy, detailed questions while on the move. The technology giant further announced that it is integrating Lens features into AI Mode, which can assist you in asking questions about whatever you are observing. For instance, if you receive a new plant as a gift and wish to learn more about it, just open the Google app on Android or iOS, capture a photo, and ask, “What is this plant, and can you provide instructions on how to repot and care for it?”
