‘Swasthya Nari Sashakt Parivar’ Campaign to Be Observed in Andaman & Nicobar Islands from September 17 to October 2

Port Blair, September 15 — The Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands is set to observe the nationwide Swasthya Nari Sashakt Parivar campaign from September 17 to October 2, 2025, aligning with the Government of India’s flagship health initiative aimed at empowering women and strengthening family well-being.

Launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the campaign is jointly led by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD). It coincides with the 8th edition of Poshan Maah, and is designed to deliver integrated health and nutrition services to women, adolescent girls, and children across the country.

In the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, the campaign will be implemented through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, Community Health Centres, District Hospitals, and Anganwadi Centres. Activities will include:

  • Preventive and Curative Health Services: Screening for anaemia, tuberculosis, sickle cell disease, and non-communicable illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension.
  • Maternal and Child Health Care: Antenatal check-ups, immunisation drives, menstrual hygiene awareness, and mental health counselling.
  • Nutrition Awareness: Recipe demonstrations, Annaprashan ceremonies, and counselling on balanced diets under the Eat Right initiative.
  • AYUSH Services: Yoga sessions and Ayurveda consultations to promote holistic wellness.
  • Digital Health Integration: Enrolment under Ayushman Bharat schemes, ABHA health IDs, and grievance redressal helpdesks at health camps.
  • Community Mobilisation: Active participation from ASHA workers, Anganwadi staff, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and youth volunteers.

Over one lakh health camps are expected to be held nationwide during the campaign period, with specialist services in gynaecology, paediatrics, dental care, dermatology, and mental health supported by institutions such as AIIMS, ESIC centres, and private hospitals.

Local administration in the A&N Islands will coordinate with multiple ministries including Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Education, Youth Affairs, and Tribal Affairs to ensure comprehensive outreach. Public representatives and grassroots workers will play a key role in mobilising communities and ensuring access to services.

The campaign underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive healthcare and nutrition, placing women and children at the heart of India’s development vision. It is expected to significantly enhance awareness, access, and quality of care in remote and underserved regions of the islands.
