Swaraj Dweep hosts the inaugural DC Cup Chess Tournament 2024
Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, the District Administration of South Andaman organized the inaugural DC Cup Chess Tournament 2024 in a noble attempt to promote sports among young people and keep them away from harmful influences. The goal of the youth-only competition at Hotel Dolphin Resort was to give Under-11 and Under-19 boys and girls a stage on which to demonstrate their chess prowess and good sportsmanship.
The primary guest for the occasion was Mr. Firoz Alam, SDPO of Swaraj Dweep. He formally opened the competition by making the ceremonial first move on the top board versus Ms. Jagtap Kalyani Rajendra, Director of Fisheries, A & N Administration. In his speech, Mr. Alam urged the young athletes to get involved in sports, stressing the value of perseverance, self-control, and teamwork in fostering character development and personal development.
65 participants enthusiastically participated in the competition, demonstrating the community’s burgeoning interest in chess. The District Administration’s dedication to encouraging sports among young people is demonstrated by this event, which represents a major turning point for Swaraj Dweep.
