SMC demolishes unauthorized construction on sewer in Ward No. 05, Siliguri

Siliguri, July 04: Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) conducted an operation and demolished an unauthorized construction in Ward No. 05. Reportedly, despite repeated notices being issued, no action was taken against the construction that encroached on a significant portion of the sewer. SMC. As a result, SMC took matters into its own hands and demolished the construction.
According to reports, the operation began early Thursday in the presence of law enforcement officials from Khalpara outpost and a large police team. Meanwhile, the owner of the construction expressed his disappointment with the demolition drive. He questioned the administration for not taking necessary action against several other constructions encroaching on sewerage land across the area.
Over the past few weeks, the SMC has launched a sustained anti-encroachment drive against unauthorized constructions across the city. Several such constructions have been damaged under the directives of the High Court.
