The State Bank of India (SBI), Mohanpura branch, in partnership with the Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society (ANACS) and the Blood Centre of G.B. Pant Hospital, organized a voluntary blood donation camp on Monday, reinforcing its commitment to community welfare and public health.
Held at the SBI premises, the camp witnessed the participation of 42 voluntary donors. The initiative was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Subrata Saha, Project Director of ANACS and Director of the State Blood Transfusion Council, A&N Islands. Medical oversight was provided by Dr. Shazia Sultana MA, Junior Resident, Department of Pathology, G.B. Pant Hospital.
Prior to donation, all participants were screened for eligibility and briefed on the importance and safety of blood donation. The technical team from the Blood Centre ensured that all collected units were tested for transfusion-transmissible infections in accordance with national safety protocols.
Mr. Santosh Sahu, Regional Manager of SBI, played a key role in coordinating the event and ensuring its smooth execution. Donor certificates were distributed to acknowledge the contributions of the volunteers.
The camp underscored the importance of voluntary blood donation in maintaining adequate blood reserves and highlighted the role of institutional partnerships in promoting health awareness across the islands.
