Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of CSK names a teammate whose performance cost the team the match against DC

Ruturaj Gaikwad, captain of the Chennai Super Kings, feels that the team’s inability to score runs in the first few overs was the key to their 20-run loss to the Delhi Capitals. In the last over, MS Dhoni went on a rampage and unleashed some pure vintage hitting, sending the crowd into a frenzy after tottering in the powerplay. Aside from Dhoni’s genius, the CSK hitters found it difficult to make an impact during the powerplay. Khallel Ahmed’s brilliant spell turned the tide in DC’s favor. However, Mukesh Kumar stole the show by taking wickets at crucial junctures in the match.

After the game, Gaikwad spoke candidly about CSK’s early struggles, saying, “I was pretty happy with the way they bowlers came back after the start.” Keeping them to 191 was a commendable endeavor. In the first inning, the pitch was mostly in good shape. There was more seam movement and spongy bounce in the second inning. I had the impression that Rachin was far away from it. The difference was that we were unable to get going in the first three overs.”After a 68-run partnership between Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell, CSK gradually regained control of the match. But Mukesh made a big impression for DC with his amazing spell, making sure CSK didn’t catch up to the necessary pace.

“It was manageable around the halfway point. We were continuously running behind because of the additional seam movement and our inability to capitalize. Gaikwad continued, “We didn’t get the huge over to lower the run rate. Prior to the match, CSK was trailing a formidable 192 runs, but they turned things around in the powerplay thanks to Rahane and Mitchell’s stand.

The fans went into a frenzy when MS Dhoni went on a rampage and produced some pure vintage hitting in the final over, with 72 runs needed in the last four overs. His smooth stroke play, meanwhile, was unable to guarantee that CSK would remain undefeated.
