Republic Day 2025: Lt. governor highlights key development plans for Little Andaman

The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the swift advancements in island transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the Islands Development Agency’s (IDA) direction in his Republic Day 2025 speech. The region’s infrastructure and economy are being improved as part of a continuous effort to accelerate these advancements. The speech’s main focus was on the recent choices made at the seventh IDA meeting, which was presided over by Mr. Amit Shah, the Hon. Union Home Minister, on January 3, 2025.

Decisions on a number of significant projects to further boost the islands’ growth, especially with regard to Little Andaman, were made during the summit. The Lieutenant Governor made the historic announcement that Little Andaman will become the Indian Ocean Region’s Surfing Capital. This ambitious project will establish Little Andaman as a top adventure sports destination and is anticipated to attract both domestic and foreign tourists.

Through Public-Private Partnerships (PPP), a number of revolutionary projects in the tourist and hospitality industry will be implemented in the region. These initiatives seek to update the region’s infrastructure and increase its allure as a major international destination for travel and healthcare. The government hopes that Little Andaman will become a hub for innovation and sustainable development in the area in addition to being a popular tourism destination with these new developments.
