Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Former Union Minister, Appointed BJP Kerala Chief

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, a former Union Minister and technocrat-turned-politician, has been appointed as the president of the BJP’s Kerala unit. This decision was announced during the BJP’s state council meeting, where he was the sole nominee for the position. Chandrasekhar expressed his gratitude to the party’s leadership, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP national president J.P. Nadda, for entrusting him with this responsibility.

In his speech, Chandrasekhar emphasized his mission to bring the NDA government to power in Kerala, a state traditionally dominated by the CPI(M)-led LDF and the Congress-led UDF. He criticized the state’s reliance on debt and the lack of opportunities for youth, stressing the need for investment and employment generation. Chandrasekhar also highlighted the BJP’s growing influence in Kerala, referencing the party’s performance in recent elections.

Outgoing president K. Surendran formally handed over the party flag to Chandrasekhar, who vowed to lead the BJP-led alliance to victory in the state. Chandrasekhar’s appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the BJP’s position in Kerala, leveraging his experience and connections to build support across various communities.
