Rahul Gandhi Visits Srinagar to Offer Support to Pahalgam Terror Attack Victims

Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, arrived in Srinagar on Friday to meet the victims of the recent Pahalgam terror attack. The attack, which occurred on April 22, claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists, and left several others injured. Gandhi is expected to visit the Army’s Base Hospital in Badamibagh Cantonment to inquire about the condition of those injured.
During his visit, Gandhi plans to meet various delegations, including representatives from the trade and tourism sectors, as well as party members. He is also likely to hold individual meetings with Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The Congress leader has emphasized his message of “healing the wounds” of the people affected by the attack and its aftermath.
Gandhi had cut short his visit to the United States to attend a crucial Congress Working Committee meeting convened in response to the attack. He also participated in an all-party meeting called by the government to brief political parties about the incident and its implications.
This visit comes amidst heightened tensions following the attack, with India taking diplomatic measures against Pakistan, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and expelling Pakistani military attachés. The situation remains tense as investigations into the attack continue.
