PS C&EO arrests an autorickshaw driver in possession of 4.29 kg of Ganja in the South Andaman

Police detained an autorickshaw driver at Bimblitan Chowk in South Andaman for having 4.29 kg of ganja. His autorickshaw (registration number AN01 R 0584) had the contraband hidden in the engine casing at the back. Credible information regarding the existence of illegal ganja in the autorickshaw was given to Inspector Girish Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Police Station Crime and Economic Offence. A raiding team was promptly assembled after he notified Mr. Kumar Abhishek, DANIPS, and the Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP)-CID.

Inspector Girish Kumar, Police Constables K. Rajendran and Bala Subramanium (Police Photographer), Head Constables Sanjay Kujur and K. Venkateshwar Rao, SI P. Moideen Kutty, and ASI Mohd. Rafique was all on the team. The team arrived at Bimblitan Chowk with electronic weighing equipment and a drug testing kit. Jodakalan resident Animesh Ezzeddar was operating an autorickshaw when the police stopped it and gave him instructions on how to conduct the search.

In front of impartial witnesses, the two packages, which combined weighed 4.29 kg, were immediately sealed and confiscated. Additionally, the autorickshaw was seized. Police Photographer Bala Subramanium used the e-shakhsya app to record the entire search and seizure procedure. A witness was given the brass seal used during the procedure to keep secure. According to Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, Animesh Ezzeddar, the accused, was taken into custody. He and the confiscated objects were brought to the police station for additional examination.
