PM Modi to Chair Crucial Security Meet Following Pahalgam Attack

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair a high-level Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting on Wednesday, marking the second such meeting since the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in South Kashmir. The attack claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists, and has prompted India to take calibrated actions against cross-border terrorism.

The CCS meeting, scheduled for 11 AM, will be attended by key officials, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Home Minister Amit Shah, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, and other top government officials. The agenda includes reviewing national security measures and discussing potential responses, such as closing Indian airspace to Pakistani carriers.

The first CCS meeting, held on April 23, resulted in significant actions, including downgrading diplomatic ties with Pakistan and suspending the Indus Water Treaty. The upcoming meeting is expected to further address Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and announce comprehensive measures to ensure national security.
