Operation Sindoor: India’s Deepest Military Strikes Inside Pakistan Since 1971

India launched Operation Sindoor, its deepest military strike inside Pakistan since the 1971 Indo-Pak war, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation was carried out in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives, including one Nepali citizen.

The strikes targeted terror infrastructure linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Bahawalpur, JeM’s main operational centre, was hit 250-300 km inside Pakistan’s Punjab province, making it the deepest Indian strike since 1971. Muridke, LeT’s nerve centre, was struck 40-50 km from the India-Pakistan border. Sialkot, located 10-20 km from the border, was also targeted.
