On Vijay Diwas, President Murmu inaugurates ‘Param Vir Dirgha’ at Rashtrapati Bhavan

President Droupadi Murmu dedicated the Param Vir Dirgha to the country at Rashtrapati Bhavan in an effort to honor Indian warriors on Vijay Diwas. The Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest honor for gallantry, was given to the courageous warriors for their extraordinary bravery in the face of the enemy. An occasion like this was significant for honoring national heroes of military bravery. Several senior government and defense officials were present to commemorate the event.

Attendees were Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of the Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan, and Chief of the Defense Minister Rajnath Singh. The 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees’ portraits can be found in a unique gallery called the Param Vir Dirgha. The project aims to inform the public about the bravery, selflessness, and sense of responsibility displayed by these national heroes during pivotal moments in India’s military history.

The gallery displaying the stories of Param Vir Chakra recipients aims to inspire future generations and foster patriotism and respect for the armed forces. It represents their unwavering spirit in defending the nation’s sovereignty and integrity. The lighting of Param Vir Dirgha during Vijay Diwas, which commemorates India’s 1971 war triumph, highlights the nation’s commitment to honoring its heroes and preserving their legacy in the highest national residence.
