Nadda: Ayushman Bharat Scheme Onboarded in All States, UTs Except West Bengal

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda informed the Lok Sabha that the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) has been successfully implemented across all states and Union Territories in India, with the notable exception of West Bengal. The minister’s statement highlighted the widespread reach of the government’s flagship health insurance scheme, which aims to provide financial protection to vulnerable populations. Nadda provided data regarding the amount of hospital admissions that have been authorized under the AB-PMJAY, since it’s inception. The Minister also gave information relating to the amount of Ayushman cards that have been created for ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and Anganwadi helpers. The information given, underscores the governments commitment to expanding the health care coverage to the countries population. The continued non participation of West Bengal, remains a point of political and public health focus. The Ayushman Bharat scheme aims to provide health cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.
