MP Bishnu Pada Ray Felicitates Sqay Martial Art Champions from Andaman & Nicobar Islands

Shri Bishnu Pada Ray, Hon’ble Member of Parliament representing the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, formally felicitated the region’s Sqay Martial Art champions for their outstanding performance at the 4th National Sqay Martial Art Championship held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The ceremony recognized the athletes’ exceptional achievements and their contribution to the sporting reputation of the Islands.

The champions, representing the Indian Sqay Martial Art Association (ISMAA) affiliated with the Sqay Martial Art Federation Bharat, delivered a record-breaking performance at the national event. The contingent secured a total of 76 medals, comprising 66 Gold, 8 Silver, and 2 Bronze, marking one of the most successful outings for the Islands in the history of the championship.

During the felicitation event, MP Bishnu Pada Ray praised the athletes for their discipline, dedication, and sporting excellence. He emphasized the importance of martial arts in fostering physical fitness, mental resilience, and cultural pride among youth. He also acknowledged the role of coaches, trainers, and support staff in nurturing talent and preparing the team for national-level competition.

The event was attended by local dignitaries, sports officials, and family members of the athletes. Certificates of achievement and commemorative mementos were presented to the medal winners, with special recognition given to those who secured multiple gold medals.

The MP reiterated his commitment to promoting sports infrastructure and training facilities across the Islands, encouraging more youth to participate in martial arts and other competitive disciplines. He also called for greater institutional support and funding to ensure sustained development of regional talent.

The felicitation ceremony concluded with a group photograph and a pledge to continue striving for excellence in future championships.
