Middle Andaman Forest Division Marks 76th Van Mahotsav With Tree Plantation Drive at Nimbutala

Nimbutala, July 8, 2025 — The Middle Andaman Forest Division, Rangat, celebrated the 76th Van Mahotsav with a vibrant tree plantation drive at the premises of Government Secondary School, Nimbutala. The event, held under the national campaign Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, drew enthusiastic participation from over 150 students, teachers, PRI members, and local government officials.
The celebration commenced with an inaugural ceremony, followed by a mass tree planting program aimed at promoting environmental conservation and sustainable forestry. Participants planted a variety of native saplings, reinforcing the festival’s core message of ecological responsibility and community engagement.
A cultural segment added depth to the event, featuring a welcome song by students and a mime performance by staff from the Bakultala Range. The mime highlighted the importance of forest preservation and the adverse effects of deforestation, resonating strongly with the audience.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Siva Shakthi B., IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, emphasized the critical role forests play in maintaining ecological balance and urged citizens to actively participate in conservation efforts. “Forests are not just resources; they are lifelines. Preserving them is essential for our survival and for future generations,” he stated.
The event also included a felicitation ceremony, where special invitees were honored with mementos by the Divisional Forest Officer. Mrs. R. Barkha, ACF (MA) delivered the welcome address, and Mr. Anil Saha, ACF (HQ) presented the vote of thanks, acknowledging the collective effort that made the celebration a success.
