Hsinchu, Taiwan, September 22, 2025 — MediaTek has officially unveiled its most advanced mobile chipset to date, the Dimensity 9500, positioning it as a direct competitor to Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The launch marks a strategic leap in on-device artificial intelligence, console-grade gaming, and power efficiency for next-generation smartphones.
Built on a cutting-edge 3nm process by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), the Dimensity 9500 features a third-generation “All Big Core” CPU architecture, comprising a 4.21GHz ultra core, three premium cores, and four performance cores. MediaTek claims the chip delivers up to 32% higher single-core and 17% better multi-core performance compared to its predecessor, while reducing peak power consumption by 55%.
AI capabilities are central to the new platform. The Dimensity 9500 integrates the ninth-generation NPU 990 and Generative AI Engine 2.0, enabling support for 3-billion parameter large language models, 128K-token long-context tasks, and real-time 4K image generation — all processed locally without cloud dependency. MediaTek says this setup doubles AI compute and slashes peak power usage by 56% during intensive inference tasks.
For gamers, the chipset includes the Arm Mali-G1 Ultra GPU, which supports 120FPS ray tracing, frame interpolation, and Unreal Engine integrations. MediaTek reports a 33% increase in peak GPU performance and 42% better power efficiency, aiming to deliver console-class visuals and sustained responsiveness under heavy workloads.
Imaging and display enhancements come via the Imagiq 1190 ISP and MiraVision Adaptive Display. The ISP supports up to 200MP capture, RAW-domain preprocessing, and cinematic 4K 60FPS portrait video. MiraVision adjusts contrast and color based on ambient light and panel characteristics for improved clarity and comfort.
Connectivity features include AI-driven power optimization, 5CC carrier aggregation for 15% higher bandwidth, and congestion prediction to reduce network latency by 50%. The chip also offers up to 10% lower 5G power consumption and 20% lower Wi-Fi power usage.
Smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9500 are expected to debut in Q4 2025, with OPPO and Vivo likely to be among the first adopters. The launch comes just days ahead of Qualcomm’s unveiling of its own flagship processor, intensifying competition in the premium mobile segment.
