Legal Aid Centre Inaugurated At Andaman Law College To Promote Rights And Legal Education

On June 21, the Andaman Law College’s Legal Aid Centre was formally opened, signifying a significant advancement in expanding access to legal assistance and raising legal awareness among Andaman and Nicobar Island citizens.

Prominent members of the judiciary graced the inaugural session, including the honorable Mr. Justice Surya Kant, a judge at the Supreme Court and Executive Chairman of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA); the honorable Mr. Justice Dipankar Datta, a Supreme Court judge and patron of the Andaman & Nicobar State Legal Services Authority (A&N SLSA); the honorable Mr. Justice T.S. Sivagnanam, the chief justice of the High Court of Calcutta and Patron-in-Chief of A&N SLSA; the honorable Mr. Justice Sabyasachi Bhattacharyya, a judge of the Calcutta High Court and Executive Chairman of A&N SLSA; and the honorable Mr. Justice Jay Sengupta and the honorable Mr. Justice Bivas Pattanayak, judges of the Calcutta High Court currently holding Circuit Bench at Port Blair.
