Kisan Mela 2025 and the Dweep Agro-Eco Walk will be inaugurated on March 18

The Kisan Mela-2025 will take place on March 18 and 19 at the Mela Ground inside the Garacharma Research Complex, organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research – Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CIARI) in association with its Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs). In order to improve sustainability and productivity in the industry, the two-day event will provide a forum for farmers, researchers, and politicians to have important conversations while fusing traditional agricultural knowledge with contemporary scientific discoveries.
The event’s chief guest, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, will formally launch the Dweep Agro-Eco Walk and the Kisan Mela at the institute’s Sippighat and Garacharma farms. The event, hosted by Ms. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS Secretary of Agriculture & Animal Husbandry, will feature a Scientist-Farmer Interaction, a quiz competition, and an exhibition of modern farming techniques. It will also showcase local products and provide access to high-quality planting materials. The Dweep Agro-Eco Walk will launch an initiative promoting sustainable farming methods and eco-friendly practices.
By providing them with information, tools, and exposure to the most recent developments in agriculture, the Kisan Mela 2025 seeks to uplift and empower the islands’ farming population. An important event for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands’ agricultural sector, the event is anticipated to draw a sizable number of farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, students, and industry players.
