Khushi Kapoor says her self-esteem took a hit after she was mocked for her looks: ‘I was called certain names’

In Screen Live, Khushi Kapoor revealed how she was judged for her looks as a child and how it affected her self-esteem.
About a week ago, Khushi Kapoor openly admitted to undergoing cosmetic procedures and stressed that actors should be transparent about such choices instead of giving people false expectations. During Screen Live held in New Delhi today, Khushi revealed how she was judged for her looks as a child and how it affected her self-esteem.
She also stressed on the importance of honesty when it comes to enhancing her beauty and said that people should do what feels right to them.
Addressing the constant comparisons to her sister Janhvi Kapoor and mother Sridevi from an early age and the unrealistic beauty standards she faced, Khushi said, “It’s a vicious cycle. When I was a little girl, I was made fun of for the way I looked. I didn’t look like my mother or sister. When you’re a young child, your self-esteem takes a beating.
I had a deep interest in vanity and looking a certain way and I don’t think it’s a bad thing, especially when I know these are the things people are pointing out. I’m not saying it’s something people should or shouldn’t do. I haven’t done the hundred things people have said I have done, but sometimes it’s a part of taking care of yourself. Skincare, fillers, I don’t think these are things a person should be scrutinised for.”
She further added, “It is important to be honest. Whether you do something or not, people will have an issue with it. When I was younger I was judged for looking a certain way and called certain names and when I changed my look, people had an issue with that too. You should do what is right.”
Earlier, in a conversation with Curly Tales, Khushi Kapoor spoke about how procedures like nose jobs and lip fillers have become normal. “I don’t think it’s such a big deal. The main issue is that people are scared that if they come out and admit it, they will face hate.
I think there will be hate either way. People think the word ‘plastic’ is the biggest insult given to someone, but I don’t think it’s bad if someone gets work done and things like that,” she said.
Khushi attended Screen Live with her Loveyaapa co-star Junaid Khan. His film is going to be released on 7th February.
