Kharge Demands Anurag Thakur’s Resignation Over Land Grab Allegations

The political drama unfolded as Mallikarjun Kharge, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, demanded the resignation of BJP MP Anurag Thakur over allegations of land grabbing. The controversy began during a Lok Sabha debate on the Waqf Amendment Bill, where Thakur accused Kharge of unauthorized land acquisition. These allegations were met with strong resistance from Kharge and his colleagues, leading to a fiery exchange in Parliament.
Kharge vehemently denied the accusations, calling them baseless and defamatory. He stated that the remarks had damaged his reputation and demanded that Thakur either substantiate his claims or step down from his parliamentary position. Kharge even went as far as to offer his own resignation if the allegations against him were proven true.
The situation escalated when Thakur was compelled to withdraw his remarks following objections from opposition members. Despite the retraction, Kharge argued that the damage had already been done, as the allegations continued to circulate on media and social platforms. He also sought an apology from J.P. Nadda, the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, emphasizing the need for accountability and decorum in parliamentary proceedings.
