Arvind Kejriwal, the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), recently spoke at an event titled “Ek Shaam Shaheedon Ke Naam” to honor freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev on the occasion of Shaheedi Diwas. During his speech, Kejriwal emphasized that AAP’s entry into politics was driven by the vision of fulfilling the dreams of Bhagat Singh and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, rather than seeking power.
He criticized the BJP-led government, accusing them of disregarding the legacy of these icons. Kejriwal highlighted Bhagat Singh’s belief that merely removing colonial rulers was insufficient without societal transformation. He also alleged that the BJP removed portraits of Bhagat Singh and Ambedkar from government offices shortly after assuming power in Delhi.
Kejriwal further expressed concerns about the BJP’s governance, including restrictions on free bus rides for women in Delhi and unfulfilled promises. He reiterated AAP’s commitment to its mission of societal change and empowerment, inspired by the ideals of Bhagat Singh and Ambedkar.
