JD(U) Releases Second and Final List of Candidates for Bihar Assembly Elections 2025

Patna, October 16 — The Janata Dal (United), led by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has released its second and final list of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. With the announcement of 44 additional names, the party has now finalized its full slate of 101 candidates under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) seat-sharing arrangement.

The second list includes several prominent leaders and sitting ministers, such as Leshi Singh, Jayant Raj, Vijendra Prasad Yadav, Sheila Mandal, and Mohd Zama Khan. These names follow the first list of 57 candidates, which was released a day earlier after extensive internal consultations within the party leadership.

This move completes JD(U)’s share of the 243-seat Bihar Assembly, with the party contesting 101 seats as part of its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is also fielding candidates in 101 constituencies. The remaining seats are expected to be distributed among other NDA allies.

The JD(U) has strategically fielded candidates across various regions, aiming to consolidate its voter base and strengthen its position in the state. The party’s leadership emphasized its commitment to development, social justice, and good governance as key themes for the upcoming campaign.

Meanwhile, the opposition INDIA bloc, comprising the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and Left parties, has yet to finalize a formal seat-sharing agreement, although individual parties have begun announcing candidates.

With the release of its complete candidate list, JD(U) becomes one of the first major parties to fully gear up for the electoral battle, setting the stage for an intense and closely watched contest in Bihar.
