iPhone 17 Sale Sparks Frenzy in Mumbai and Delhi as Long Queues Form Outside Apple Stores

MUMBAI/NEW DELHI, Sept. 19, 2025 — The launch of Apple’s iPhone 17 series in India triggered massive crowds and long queues outside flagship Apple Stores in Mumbai and Delhi today, as eager customers lined up from the early hours to be among the first to purchase the latest devices.

At Apple’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) store in Mumbai, hundreds of buyers were seen waiting overnight, with some arriving as early as midnight. Similar scenes unfolded at the Select Citywalk Mall in Saket, New Delhi, where queues stretched across multiple floors. The excitement was palpable, with many customers traveling from other cities to secure their devices on Day One of the sale.

The iPhone 17 series, unveiled at Apple’s “Awe Dropping” event on September 9, includes four models: iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Prices start at ₹82,900 for the base 256GB iPhone 17 and go up to ₹2,29,900 for the top-end 2TB iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Despite the festive atmosphere, the launch day was not without incident. A brief scuffle broke out outside the BKC store in Mumbai as tempers flared over queue-cutting, prompting security personnel to intervene. Some customers expressed frustration over crowd management, citing a lack of coordination and security oversight.

Retailers across India, including Reliance Digital, Croma, and Vijay Sales, have rolled out launch offers such as ₹6,000 instant discounts, exchange bonuses up to ₹12,000, and no-cost EMI options. Quick commerce platforms like Blinkit also reported stockouts of the base model within minutes of launch in Delhi-NCR.

The iPhone 17 series features Apple’s new A19 Bionic chip and runs on iOS 26, which supports the company’s latest AI suite, Apple Intelligence. Early reviews have praised the devices for their enhanced camera systems, new color variants—including Cosmic Orange and Mist Blue—and improved battery performance.

Industry analysts expect strong sales momentum to continue through the festive quarter, with pre-orders already outpacing last year’s iPhone 16 launch. Apple’s growing retail footprint in India and rising consumer appetite for premium smartphones are seen as key drivers of this surge in demand.
