Intel to Unveil Technical Details of Panther Lake PC Chip Built on 18A Process

San Francisco, October 8, 2025 — Intel Corporation is set to reveal comprehensive technical details about its forthcoming Panther Lake chip for laptops, marking a significant milestone in the company’s transition to its next-generation 18A manufacturing process. The announcement is part of Intel’s broader effort to reassure investors and industry stakeholders about its roadmap and manufacturing capabilities.

Panther Lake represents Intel’s first high-volume product built entirely on the 18A process, which incorporates a redesigned AI engine and revamped efficiency and performance cores. The chip is expected to deliver a 30% reduction in energy consumption compared to its predecessor, Lunar Lake, and a 50% boost in data processing capabilities in select scenarios.

The company recently hosted a series of technical briefings and factory tours for analysts and journalists at its Arizona facilities, including Fab 52, which houses the 18A process. These sessions provided in-depth insights into Panther Lake’s microarchitecture, graphics and central processor cores, and media engine.

Intel executives have confirmed that Panther Lake chips will be available in early 2026. The product is aimed at high-end laptops and is seen as a strategic move to regain market share lost to competitors such as Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), which produced the previous-generation Lunar Lake chips.

The unveiling comes amid broader challenges for Intel, including a reported $2.9 billion loss in Q2 2025 and uncertainty around its future 14A process. The company has also attracted new investments from SoftBank Group and Nvidia, and recently secured a CHIPS Act grant that was converted into a 9.9% equity stake following discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Intel has declined to comment further but noted that autumn technical briefings are a regular part of its annual communications strategy.
