In South Andaman, tough measures are done to combat illegal earth extraction and dumping

The District Administration of South Andaman has taken strong action against anyone found to be in violation of the Mines and Minerals Rules and the Land Revenue Regulations in an effort to curb the illicit extraction and disposal of soil. Revenue agents discovered illegal activity involving the mining and transportation of earth during a recent field examination in Pahargaon village. About 30 cubic meters of the unlawfully removed material were later discovered discarded in the village of Garacharma. Authorities imposed a ₹18,000 fine on the violators for engaging in these activities without the required authorization.

The Deputy Commissioner responded to the situation by strongly warning those involved in unlawful dumping, illegal mining, and soil transportation. The District Administration has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance attitude for these illegal activities and promised that all offenders will face severe penalties. Additionally, the administration has urged everyone to abide by all laws pertaining to mining, land usage, and material transportation. Any suspicious activity involving the unlawful transportation or dumping of minerals and soil is encouraged to be reported by the public.
