India revealed their roster for the T20 World Cup 2024, with veteran spinner Yuzvendra Chahal making a comeback and KL Rahul being excluded. The captain of the Indian cricket team will be Rohit Sharma, while the vice-captain will be Hardik Pandya. Shivam Dube has been recognized for his outstanding performance in the IPL 2024, while Yashasvi Jaiswal has been added as the opening option. Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah have been added to the pace department, along with Arshdeep Singh. Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja are the all-rounders, and Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson are the choices for wicket-keeping. The designated specialty batters will be Suryakumar Yadav and Virat Kohli.
India’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign kicks off on June 5 against Ireland in New York, followed by a highly anticipated match against Pakistan on June 9 at the same location. India will play on June 12 against the USA and on June 15 against Canada. Major omissions from the 15-man roster included cricketers Shubman Gill and Rinku Singh, though both were on the reserve list. Both Avesh Khan and Khaleel Ahmed, two fast bowlers, have been added to the reserve list so they can be called upon in the event of an injury or tactical adjustment.
Additionally, this will be Rishabh Pant’s first international competition after he disappeared from the scene of a near-fatal vehicle accident in 2022. The wicket-keeper hitter has so far shown promise in the IPL 2024, and his performance with the Delhi Capitals has won him a position in the squad for the T20 World Cup in 2024.
