In Car Q Nicobar, the medical team conducts TB awareness programs for the students

As part of the National TB Elimination Program in Car Nicobar, a medical team headed by Dr. Anwar Moosa, District TB Officer for Nicobar District, recently held awareness campaigns on TB prevention and control. About 200 pupils attended the workshops, which were hosted at GSS Schools in Sawai and Big Lapathy. Dr. Deepika Sharma, the BJRH Medical Officer, gave a welcome speech at the start of the event, outlining the significance of the meeting.

Ms. Ansavi, a TB health visitor, gave the kids a multimedia presentation about tuberculosis (TB), explaining its causes, symptoms, and treatment. After thereafter, Dr. Moosa gave a thorough rundown of TB control strategies, emphasizing the value of early detection and rigorous treatment compliance. He emphasized the necessity of lowering the stigma associated with the illness and raising community knowledge. Additionally, he provided information on the incentive packages offered to community volunteers and TB patients.

In order to provide the kids a relatable viewpoint, a TB champion was asked to relate their own experience with TB diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Moosa encouraged the children to spread the word to their families and communities, urging them to be ambassadors for TB awareness. Students happily participated in an entertaining quiz competition that completed the event, with awards given to the victors. This program is a component of the continuous endeavors to eradicate tuberculosis in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands by means of community engagement and education.
